About Me
My name is Bernard Elsmere. I’m an independent designer and maker of furniture and spaces. My background is in fine art, with experience in set design for TV, restaurant and hotel interiors, art installations in galleries and public spaces and lots and lots of domestic joinery, cabinetry and furniture making. I’m also a pretty fussy builder when called upon, but prefer the design side of things.
I run a workshop and art studio in Camberwell, south London, where I design and produce kitchens, bedrooms, exterior joinery (sometimes with fairly extensive engineering), cabinetry, furniture, painted murals and other art projects for hospitals as well as more experimental projects using materials such as terrazzo, Corian and plaster.
I love the collaborative nature of design and work closely with my clients and other designers and artists to produce design solutions focussed on clarity of function and quality of execution.
I’m also at the prototype stage for a range of make-to-order kitchen tables and chairs which will be available in the summer of 2026.
